Sailing to the Channel Islands, July 2007

A weeks sailing around Devon and the Channel Island with Mark, Barney and George A weeks holiday sailing to the Channel Islands with Mark, Barney and George. On Sunday we made a booty sail from Plymouth to Salcombe to say goodbye before the big trip. On Monday, after dealing with the harbour master, we set sail for St. Peter's Port in a brisk wind. The main excitement was when the auto-helm malfunctioned leaving us going round in circles in the busiest shipping lane in the world. We eventually managed to dissasemble the auto-help and regain control. Navigating into St. Peter's Port was very interesting in the dark. We took great care to avoid the shoals and rocks and make the correct transits on all the light houses.
